Beaverton Member Wins Statewide Classified Employees Week Theme Contest

The first week of March is our time to shine, classified! That's when Oregon celebrates us for Classified School Employees Week (CEW) – March 2-6 in 2026. OSEA's annual tradition is to run a theme contest for members to pick the way our union will honor classified for the week. This year's winner is Beaverton Chapter 48's own Anya Janik a Para III at the ACE program. Her theme "Classified Employees Pave Pathways to Student Success" will be this year's Classified Employees Week theme. Congratulations Anya!

A second and final reading will be done at our next chapter meeting on December 16th. Scholarships!

As education professionals, we have centered our lives around the value of learning, so we have unique scholarship opportunities to help OSEA members and their families reach their education goals. The scholarship deadlines are in early 2026, but you can get a head start by applying now!

  • Lou Gerber Scholarship for OSEA members
OSEA awards $1,000 scholarships to two members in each of our seven zones to support those furthering their education at an accredited school. Apply by January 15.

  • Guy Davis Scholarship and Past Presidents’ Scholarship for high school seniors
These scholarships are awarded to graduating high school seniors related to OSEA or ROSE members. The Guy Davis Scholarship, named for OSEA's founder, awards $1,250 to one student in each zone. The Past Presidents’ Scholarship is a statewide award (one recipient) for $1,500. Apply by March 1.

  • John Brown Undergraduate Scholarship for college juniors and seniors
Named for our longest-serving Executive Director, this $1,000 scholarship provides assistance to college juniors and seniors related to OSEA or ROSE members. Apply by January 15.

Make a Union Family's Holiday Bright

As the holiday season ramps up, we're approaching our deadline for Labor's Community Service Agency's (LCSA) Presents from Partners toy drive! Give a new, unwrapped toy to your field representative by Dec. 1 to be delivered to the box in the State Office.

In late December, volunteer elves will deliver LCSA's Presents from Partners gifts to union families in need, along with some food items to support their holiday celebration. It's been a tough year for many working families. LCSA's toy drive provides a way to stand with our fellow workers and share our holiday cheer with union families. Any gift you are able to give will brighten someone's holiday.

Give your toy drive donations to your field representative by Dec. 1, and they will deliver them to the box in the State Office.
